Snook and Redfishing still RED HOT !

October 30, 2007

jim-redfish.jpgjim-snook-1.jpg I had the pleasure of fishing with Jim Davidson from Kansas. Despite the full moon and big low tides, fishing for Snook and Redfish was still red hot . In the morning on the super low tides the fish were held up in the deep passes where the water was moving around the  deeper points. The bait of choice in the morning was root-beer colored riptide. In the mid morning we switched to live bait. When the tide started to rise, the bait (pilchards), started to pour in . We moved to the outside islands and started to fish  around the outside rock points and oyster bars. The Snook were averaging in the 20 to 30 inch range, and the reds 24 to 30 inch range .  In the up coming weeks the fishing should still remain great, with the water temperature’s still in the the mid 80s. Thanks for checking out my report!

Fall Fishing

October 20, 2007

Everglades SnookAlthough fall is officially here, the weather in Everglades National Park has remained unchanged for several weeks now… Sunny days with temperatures in the mid to upper 80s, perfect for Everglades fishing. The water temperature has remained in the high 70s to low 80s keeping all species of fish on the outside points.

As expected for early fall, the Redfish fishing has remained very strong over the last few weeks. Snook fishing has also continued to be very good, with usual catches in the 24 – 36 inch range. There are a number of both larger and smaller Snook mixed in as well.
